The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled clinical professional who works within the scope of practice to assist in patient care under the provider's direction. The Medical Assistant helps patients by providing information, services, and other assistance to support physicians and other providers in rendering patient care.
Essential Job Functions :
Maintains a safe and supportive environment by keeping the work area, exam rooms, and equipment in clean, orderly, and safe manner, ensuring availability and proper functioning of supplies and equipment. Within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines, administers ordered medications and / or vaccines via oral, injection, topically, or as directed. Collect patient specimens and run point of care lab tests. Documents in EMR (Electronic Medical Record) accurately and appropriately. Manages My Chart requests and incoming patient calls. Manages in-basket messages under the Providers instructions. Other duties include ordering supplies, lab, and diagnostic tests, disposing of contaminated supplies, patient registration, scheduling, phone triage, cash handling, check-in / check-out and performing scribing duties as needed.
