Job description

Join our dynamic team in the Critical Care Float Pool and embrace an exciting opportunity to develop and sharpen your critical care skills across multiple areas including Neuro-Surgical Trauma ICU, Medical ICU, Coronary Care Unit, Cardiovascular ICU, and the intermediate care ICU - the MSICU.

As a Clinical Nurse in the Critical Care Float Pool, you will also have the chance to expand your expertise in Emergency Department care and neuro-progressive care. Work in all critical care areas at the region’s only Level I trauma center, where your contributions are invaluable.

The Clinical Nurse plays a vital role in fostering a compassionate and supportive environment for patients, families, and colleagues through kindness and active listening. Recognize that each team member's work is essential to our mission's success.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, and perform treatments and procedures as per company policy and regulations.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patients' conditions.
  • Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care provided.
  • Utilize sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.
  • Provide primary and emergency care for both occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
  • Administer over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered.
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to formulate individualized Plans of Care for all patients.
  • Guide ancillary personnel and uphold professional nursing standards.

Qualifications :

  • Graduate from a professional academic nursing program with a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree.
  • Current NYS Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained and maintained.
  • 1-3 years of clinical RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care.
  • Strong communication, prioritization, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of quality concepts and principles, with the ability to apply them for departmental and patient care quality improvement.
