Data Center Technician I at Chenega MIOS SBU, Albuquerque, NM.
The Data Center Technician I will perform the design, improvement and implementation and operation of Data Center policy and procedures.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform facilities monitoring of the physical infrastructure of the data center for items such as power consumption, power outages, HVAC performance, humidity alarms, security cameras, UPS, fire systems, etc.
- Monitor via physical inspections and via government supplied monitoring tools, such as Nlyte.
- Collaborate with the Federal Data Center Manager on customer relationship management for OIT and internal / external Data Center customers.
- Perform collection / analysis, authoring and communication of requirements with these entities.
- Perform 24x7x365 monitoring for network resource outages and Enterprise / Data Center applications, servers, etc. Network monitoring and application / server monitoring shall be done via government supplied monitoring tools, such as Microsoft SCOM, What's Up Gold, Solar Winds, etc.
- Function as a permanent on-call member of the staff for emergency situations.
- Open tickets for monitoring and outages, whether system or network related, and ensure tickets are assigned to the proper group(s) for resolution.
- Document current procedure(s) which relate to these tasks.
- Collaborate with staff in developing and documenting new procedures for these tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree or combination of education and relevant experience.2+ years of related technical and administrative experience in supporting a Data Center or computer facility. Experience to include :Technical experience, including the use of standard monitoring tools for a facility for HVAC, Electrical and security systems.
Administrative experience, including development of standards and procedures for operations, scheduling of staff, customer support of internal and external customers, initiating and distributing operational reports and COOP (disaster recovery) activities.Experience in change management processes and procedures.Background check.Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of Data Center Standards including, but not limited to cabling, power, cooling and security and knowledge in Data Center Monitoring applications including, but not limited to current versions of Microsoft Operations Manager, Microsoft SCCM, SCOM, Qwest Monitoring tools and Network Monitoring Tools such as What's Up Gold or Solar Winds.Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems (desktop and server), Networking equipment and software, and Microsoft Office Productivity Suite.High level attention to detail and excellent communication skills.Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.Demonstrated communication skills in writing, presentations and individual contact.Ability to work with senior government personnel, to include occasional high stress situations.Ability to obtain an IA driver's license which will allow operation of a government vehicle.How You'll Grow
