Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position requiring 3 years of ICU experience and advanced certifications.
Responsibilities
Work in a combination ICU / CCU unit within an acute hospital settingUnit has 10 beds and cares for patients with respiratory distress, post-arrest, acute MI, balloon pumps, and those requiring vent and vasopressor supportNurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1 : 2-3Uses Cerner Soarian EMR system12-hour night shifts with every other weekend requiredTravelers are the first to float and may float to any inpatient unitNo on-call requirementsUnit requires nurses to read and interpret their own tele stripsOne-day general orientation followed by one day with a preceptorPrimary physicians manage patient care; not a closed intensivist unitCharge nurse takes full patient assignment during shiftsNurse assistants / patient care techs are scheduled midnight to 7 PM but are not in-house 24 / 7RT is available 24 / 7 and manages all major respiratory equipment, but RNs are expected to troubleshootMay be included in the holiday rotationNavy blue scrubs requiredTravelers with prior employment at any WVU Medicine location must have a 2-year break before reapplyingTravelers are limited to one year of cumulative experience at WVU facilities before a required 2-year breakEKG testing may be required for ICU validation at certain WVU facilitiesFirst-time travelers are acceptedRequirements
Active WV or Compact RN licenseCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certificationsMinimum 3 years recent ICU experience requiredBalloon pump, vent management, and drip titration experience requiredComfortable titrating vasopressors, levo, neo, epi, nitro, heparin, and other common ICU dripsMust read and interpret tele stripsMust reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligibleCopy of unexpired driver’s license required for considerationBenefits
