Job Description & Requirements Specialty : PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care Discipline : RN Start Date : 11 / 24 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 48 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, days, nights Employment Type : Travel Position Summary : The PICU Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents requiring intensive monitoring and advanced medical interventions. The RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care in collaboration with the healthcare team, ensuring optimal outcomes for patients and families in a high-acuity environment. Key Responsibilities : Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients with complex medical conditions. Continuously assess patient status, interpret vital signs, and respond to rapid changes in condition. Administer medications, infusions, and treatments according to physician orders and hospital protocols. Operate and monitor specialized equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and hemodynamic monitoring systems. Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans. Provide emotional support, education, and resources to patients' families and caregivers. Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record (EMR). Participate in emergency and code situations, providing advanced life support and stabilization as needed. Maintain compliance with hospital policies, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements. Engage in continuing education, professional development, and performance improvement initiatives. Qualifications : Education : Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred. Licensure : Current RN license in the state of practice. Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Experience : Minimum 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience; prior pediatric or critical care experience preferred.
