Summary :
The Licensed Vocational Nurse plays a vital role in assisting Physicians with patient care delivery. You will be responsible for providing direct patient care, administering treatments as prescribed by Physicians, and giving medications in accordance with hospital policies.
Responsibilities :
- Assess and evaluate clients' status, contributing to a detailed assessment by the healthcare Provider.
- Engage in ongoing data collection to inform nursing care.
- Participate actively in planning individualized nursing care and implementing tailored care plans.
- Deliver care within the LVN scope of practice, following all relevant legal guidelines.
- Reinforce educational plans for patients with common health concerns and distinct learning requirements.
- Complete assignments in an organized and effective manner while providing direct care to assigned patients.
- Respond promptly to patient and family needs, addressing questions and concerns appropriately.
- Maintain clear communication with patients and families before, during, and after treatments or procedures.
- Utilize supplies and equipment correctly, ensuring documentation of usage and recording charges accurately.
- Adhere to time-keeping policies; punctuality and attendance are vital.
- Follow hospital protocols for medication administration, IV therapy, and blood therapy, while identifying and reporting any adverse reactions promptly.
- Accurately share information with supervising Physicians in a timely manner.
- Provide care that recognizes both normal and abnormal signs in patients' physiological conditions and psychological needs.
- Record observations, treatments, nursing interventions, and patient responses meticulously in medical records.
- Comply with dress and hygiene codes set forth by the hospital and unit policies.
- Follow all safety precautions and hospital policies diligently.
- Complete all necessary training on infection control, safety, and other assigned educational topics.
- Maintain compliance with CHRISTUS Health Guidelines related to HIPAA and ensure the confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Complete all required educational assignments punctually.
- Seek out opportunities for new learning experiences and identify personal development goals with guidance.
- Foster an environment supportive of nursing education for students and other healthcare trainees by sharing knowledge and conducting demonstrations.
- Engage in unit quality improvement initiatives and report any issues that hinder effective unit functioning to management.
- Attendance at a minimum of 80% of in-service programs and departmental meetings is expected; follow up on discussions if unable to attend.
Requirements :
Graduation from a State Board accredited Vocational School of Nursing or an equivalent program.Preferred : Six (6) months of relevant clinical experience.Must hold a current license or permit for professional nursing practice in the State of Texas.AHA BLS certification is required within two (2) weeks of employment.Work Schedule :
