As a Regional Safety Engineer, you will lead the Health and Safety function of your assigned area. You will be responsible for advancing safety culture and improving the health and safety of our data centers, by protecting our employees through safety incident prevention, investigation, and mitigation. Each day you will work with our data center community, the people who make the cloud go. They are working with electrical switching equipment, large scale air handling and mechanical systems, and critical IT gear. You will work closely with experts in security, construction, operations, logistics, compliance, corporate counsel, and human resources to further the global health safety program. You will use data to evaluate trends related to leading and lagging indicators to help your customer focus on safety, our organization's number one tenet. You will partner with employees as well as contractors to achieve health and safety goals and improve our already strong safety culture. As AWS increases data capacity you will partner with construction managers to ensure risks are identified and mitigated prior to live operations. You will work in a fast-paced environment where our operations are rapidly changing, advocating safe changes in the face of new infrastructure, new tools, and new products / processes.

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and obtain and maintain an active TS / SCI security clearance.

Key job responsibilities

Daily interactions with our customers delivering health and safety leadership and guidance

Implement health and safety standards, policies and practices including, but not limited to; safety management systems, training, risk assessments, and applicable safety regulations

Assist with industrial hygiene and ergonomics assessments.

Conduct health and safety audits of data centers and active construction sites to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements as well as life safety requirements

Ensure compliance and implementation of global health and safety programs that exceed regulatory requirements.

Develop health and safety plans for on-site emergencies, business continuity, and other unique events.

Maintain adequate safety record keeping and data integrity.

Perform data trend analysis to present to cluster leadership to support business and safety initiatives.

Consult and partner with compliance and legal teams for interpretations and guidance.

Identify risks and partner with Operations to permanently mitigate them via the hierarchy of controls.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum four year college degree in a health and safety, physical science, related field or equivalent experience in health and safety management.
• 3 or more years with a degree, or 5 or more years without a degree of field health and safety experience in general industry or construction.
• 1 or more years of experience designing, revising, and implementing health and safety processes and procedural documentation.
• United States citizen with ability to obtain a TS / SCI security clearance.

The base pay range for this position is listed below. Hourly pay ranges include the base pay rate plus the highest available shift differential which applies depending on the shift you select.

Colorado $74,200 - $129,800 annually / hourly

For salaried roles, your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave. For hourly roles, as a total compensation company, you are eligible for additional earnings including overtime pay and performance bonuses.
