About This Role
Irby Construction Company is actively seeking an experienced Project Safety Coordinator to support Transmission Line (T-Line) projects in the Corpus Christi and Kingsville, Texas areas.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the on-site safety leader, actively supporting Irby's Safety Management System.
- Observe field operations to promote safe behaviors and correct unsafe conditions in real-time.
- Monitor compliance and integrate safety into daily project planning, including :
- Steel tower erection
- T-line rigging / crane operations
- Energized line work and clearance protocols
- Lead safety meetings, deliver tailgate talks, and coach field teams.
- Manage site-specific incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions.
- Work directly with line crews, project managers, and foremen to reinforce safety culture.
- Support safety audits, recordkeeping, and compliance with OSHA and company standards.
- Identify risks, halt unsafe work when necessary, and drive continuous improvement.
- Provide real-time education and technical safety guidance to crews on-site.
What You'll Bring
Minimum 5–10 years of field safety experience in powerline constructionHands-on experience with all aspects of Transmission Line constructionFormer crew lead or foreman experience highly preferredMust be comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and computers for documentation and reportingProven background in powerline safety with transmission line, and / or substation and BESS field experienceExcellent verbal communication and leadership skills, especially when coaching crewsStrong presence in the field—respected by both foremen and linemenComfortable training others, conducting observations, and writing safety reportsAbility to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and work independently under minimal supervisionPreferred Certifications (not Required But Strongly Valued)
OSHA 500First Aid / CPR / AED & Bloodborne Pathogens trainerCHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician)Bi-lingual (Spanish / English)Required Skills
