Job Summary

The Graduate Student Financial Support Unit of Graduate Studies (GS) functions as the campus unit responsible for graduate student and postdoctoral fellowships, including those from external sources : private agencies, non-profit organizations, and government institutions. The External Fellowship Analyst serves as one of two campus representatives managing external fellowships and providing outreach programs and services to the "graduate community" of over 4,700 graduate students and over 900 postdoctoral scholars. The incumbent has demonstrated skills to independently analyze complex, institutional, external, fellowship applications for academic graduate students and postdoctoral scholars; use professional judgment to review and approve high dollar, complex, external fellowship agreements; use creativity and decision-making skills to comprehend and interpret fellowship terms and regulations for post-award negotiations for $10 million annually in external fellowships and $1 million annually in GS Dean's Matching funds; recommend, develop, and implement processes and policy guidelines; and disseminate funding information campus-wide.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and / or certification if required of the position

• Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
• Research Administration experience serving both internal and external customers, including review and submission of proposals for fellowships, contracts and grants, and Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs).
• Experience interpreting, communicating and applying terms and conditions of various sponsors, federal, state, and university guidelines, policies, and procedures governing research including but not limited to intellectual property and publications, presenting as a key speaker at workshops and / or large group and serving as primary liaison to external agencies.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, editing and analyzing various types of research administration agreements, legal correspondence and other written documents.
• Prepare, review, and negotiate agreements; evaluate complex policies and procedures, interpret legal terms and conditions of external agency award documents, identify the impact of new policy implementation, and develop new guidelines.
• Interpersonal, advising and written communications skills to interact with individuals of diverse backgrounds to research, secure, and / or provide information to clarify situations, resolve problems, and ensure cooperation among individuals.
• Working knowledge of current technologies (Aggie Enterprise, Cayuse SP), information databases, and application systems, and MS Office Suite to manipulate various spreadsheets and database management programs.
• Skills to develop creative solutions to problems, attempt unfamiliar projects / assignments and respond with flexibility to requests for assistance; contribute to studies related to long range planning and the direction of graduate student financial support.

Work Environment
