LZT is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support NASA’s Johnson Space Center in the development, testing, and flight certification of a digital wireless camera for the Orion spacecraft . This role involves full lifecycle embedded software development—from prototyping and requirements definition to integration and certification.

We’re looking for a self-motivated engineer with strong communication skills, technical expertise, and a passion for space exploration. The ideal candidate thrives in collaborative environments, adapts quickly to new challenges, and can clearly articulate complex technical concepts.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and maintain Orion Wireless Camera (OWC) flight software
  • Design and maintain the OWC GUI for commands and telemetry
  • Develop and manage the OWC Command and Data Dictionary (CDD)
  • Create automated test scripts for unit, integration, and verification testing
  • Support systems engineering tasks related to software requirements and interfaces
  • Perform software integration, testing, and flight certification
  • Collaborate across NASA programs and contractor teams
  • Ensure compliance with JSC software process standards

Required Qualifications :

  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical / Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of software development experience
  • Proficiency in C and Python
  • Experience in Linux development environments
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Preferred Skills & Experience :

  • M.S. in relevant engineering discipline
  • Aerospace systems experience (Orion, ISS, Shuttle, Commercial Crew)
  • GTK programming
  • Bus communication protocols (1553, RS-422, RS-232, USB, Ethernet)
  • NASA Core Flight Software (CFS) and Orion DEM packets
  • GitLab CI / CD pipelines, Docker, Makefiles, CMake
  • Git version control, Jira
  • Automated testing and documentation (CDD, SRS, user guides, test plans)
  • Familiarity with CMMI Level 3+ processes
  • Experience in safety-critical industries (medical, petrochemical, etc.)
