We are seeking a Remote Mental Health Counselor to join our Student Support Services team. This individual will play a key role in providing counseling, wellness programming, and consultation services that enhance student mental health and resilience.

Position Summary

The Remote Mental Health Counselor is responsible for providing direct counseling services to students, supporting wellness initiatives, and collaborating with families, teachers, and administrators to ensure the emotional and psychological needs of students are met.

The ideal candidate has strong clinical skills, experience working with children and adolescents, and an understanding of the unique needs within a school environment. This role is primarily remote, with occasional travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for professional development, team collaboration, or student support initiatives.

Note : Only candidates who are U.S. Citizens will be considered, in compliance with data security and healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Counseling & Student Support

Provide individual and small-group counseling to students addressing academic, social, emotional, and behavioral concerns.

Use evidence-based practices to support students with stress, anxiety, depression, grief, adjustment difficulties, and peer conflicts.

Facilitate crisis intervention and provide appropriate referrals when necessary.

Maintain confidential and accurate counseling records in compliance with FERPA and HIPAA.

Collaboration & Consultation

Partner with faculty, staff, and administrators to identify student needs and provide guidance on supporting mental health in the classroom.

Communicate regularly with parents / guardians to support student well-being.

Participate in multidisciplinary meetings as part of the Student Support Services team.

Programming & Prevention

Develop and implement wellness and mental health programs for students, faculty, and families.

Provide workshops and resources on topics such as resilience, stress management, mindfulness, conflict resolution, and social-emotional skills.

Contribute to school-wide initiatives supporting health and wellness.

Professional Practice

Stay current with best practices in child / adolescent psychology and school mental health services.

Maintain appropriate professional licensure and continuing education.

Adhere to ethical standards and professional guidelines of counseling practice.

Required Qualifications

Citizenship : Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Minimum 2+ years of clinical experience with children / adolescents.

Knowledge of child and adolescent development, trauma-informed care, and family systems.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to work effectively in a remote environment using secure telehealth platforms.
