This role involves providing specialized nursing care to postpartum mothers and their newborns, fostering bonding, promoting successful breastfeeding, and monitoring for complications.\n\nThe successful candidate must be highly adaptable and ready to work a fully flexible 40-hour schedule that rotates between all shifts.\n\nAssignment Details\n

- Duration : 8 weeks (No extensions will be offered)\n

- Experience Required : Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Mother / Baby RN.\n\nShift Information (40 Hours FLEX ONLY)\n
- Weekly Hours : 40 hours\n
- Shift Pattern : This position requires complete FLEXIBILITY. The traveler may work Days, Evenings, or Nights within the same contract period.\n
- Rotation : Shifts are assigned in advance, but the schedule will vary week-to-week (e.g., days one week, evenings the next). No variations or limitations to the flexible shift requirement will be accepted.\n\nCore Responsibilities\n\nThe MBU RN assumes responsibility for the primary nursing care process, including assessment, plan of care, intervention, and evaluation for the mother / newborn dyad.\n
- Postpartum Care : Provide comprehensive physical and emotional care to mothers following vaginal and cesarean births, including pain management, perineal care, and monitoring for postpartum hemorrhage or infection.\n
- Newborn Care : Perform thorough newborn assessments, monitor vital signs, assist with feeding (breast and bottle), and educate parents on newborn care, safety, and warning signs.\n
- Patient Education : Educate mothers and families on self-care, infant care, and community resources to ensure a safe transition home.\n
- Documentation : Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed patient records using the designated electronic charting system.\n
- Collaboration : Collaborate with physicians, midwives, lactation consultants, and other members of the multidisciplinary team in accordance with the American Nurse's Association Standards of Professional Nursing Practice.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n
- Licensure : Must possess and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Rhode Island.\n
- Experience : Minimum five (5) years of experience in a Mother / Baby or Postpartum unit is required.\n

- BLS (Basic Life Support)\n
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)\n
- Charting System (MANDATORY) : EPIC experience is required.\n
- Vaccinations : COVID VACCINATION is required.\n
