Job description

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities : Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

We are looking for a  temporary Safety Technician I to administer first aid treatment and transport sick or injured employees to a medical facility. Provides the company with loss prevention techniques to reduce or mitigate all types of possible incidents and illnesses from occurring or reoccurring. Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations and plant / corporate initiatives at our San Benito Foods plant in Hollister, CA. This is a seasonal position supporting our fresh pack season, generally June – October.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Administers prescribed first aid treatment at site of emergency, or in the Safety Technician trailer.
  • Assist department manager with Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s & Hazard Safety Assessments (HSA’s).
  • Assists in removal of victims from the accident location and transfer them to treatment center.
  • Assists professional medical personnel in emergency treatment administered at medical facility.
  • Assists treatment center admitting personnel to obtain and record information related to victims' status and circumstances of emergency Assists in controlling crowds, protecting valuables, or performing other duties at scene of catastrophe.

Requirements :

  • High school diploma or GED; or any equivalent combination of training, experience and education that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
  • 1-year related experience in EHS, Safety, EMT trainee, or medical assistance, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Basic knowledge of Federal, State, and local EH&S regulations and excellent English verbal and written skills. Bilingual Spanish / English preferred.
  • First Aid / CPR certification required or attained within 30 days of employment.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended hours, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.
  • Compensation :

    The wage is $17.95 - $19.95, based on experience and qualifications.
