Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager
Position Summary
The EHS Manager will serve as the organization’s primary leader and subject matter expert for all environmental, health, and safety initiatives. This individual will be responsible for reducing risk, preventing injuries and occupational illnesses, and ensuring full compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements. Partnering closely with leadership, operations, and maintenance teams, the EHS Manager will champion a proactive, employee-centered safety culture through effective policies, procedures, and continuous improvement programs.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Leadership & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs that meet or exceed federal, state, and local regulations.
- Lead regular facility inspections, risk assessments, and internal audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
- Serve as the primary liaison during regulatory audits and inspections by OSHA, EPA, and other agencies.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records related to compliance, incidents, and safety initiatives.
Incident Prevention & Response
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; perform root cause analyses and implement corrective / preventive actions.Manage emergency response plans, conduct drills, and oversee incident reporting and follow-up.Track safety performance metrics, identify trends, and drive data-informed improvements across the organization.Training & Engagement
Design and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for employees at all levels, including new hire orientation and contractor training.Lead and engage safety committees to reinforce accountability and continuous improvement.Promote awareness of hazard identification, PPE usage, emergency response, and safe work practices.Provide ongoing coaching and serve as a visible role model for safety leadership across all departments.Environmental Compliance & Hazard Communication
Manage the Hazard Communication Program, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical inventory, and labeling.Coordinate environmental compliance programs related to air, water, and waste; maintain permits and ensure timely reporting.Partner with operations and maintenance to ensure environmental sustainability and compliance with EPA and local standards.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field; or 10+ years of directly relevant experience with certifications in lieu of degree.Minimum of 5 years of EHS management experience within a manufacturing environment.Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, industrial safety standards, and workers’ compensation processes.Proven ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and train teams at all organizational levels.CPR and First Aid certification required.Familiarity with EPA regulations preferred.Demonstrated problem-solving ability and commitment to continuous improvement.What We Offer
