Overview

Be among the first 25 applicants. Reporting to the Plant Manager or Engineering Team Leader, this person is responsible for day-to-day application of production engineering concepts through continual interaction with a wide range of production staff. This includes working on process improvements such as tooling modifications, examining methods improvements, and analysis of optimum operating conditions. This position has a hands-on process improvement emphasis and will also involve opportunities for supervisory and leadership experiences.

Role Summary

This person is responsible for day-to-day application of production engineering concepts through continual interaction with a wide range of team members. This includes process improvements such as method improvements, equipment modifications, and creating optimum operating conditions all with a focus on risk reduction to team members. This position has a hands-on, highly interactive process improvement emphasis involving opportunities for supervisory and leadership experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with production staff to apply production engineering concepts on a day-to-day basis.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, including tooling modifications and methods improvements, to optimize operating conditions and reduce risk.
  • Maintain a hands-on approach with opportunities for supervisory and leadership experiences.
  • Support the site's 5S program and safety initiatives; analyze and recommend process improvements and manufacturing methods related to safety using structured methods such as job hazard analyses.
  • Prepare and evaluate feasibility of machine design changes and coordinate implementation with production.
  • Understand electrical and mechanical systems; troubleshoot these systems as needed and communicate needs to equipment vendors / suppliers.
  • Propose new equipment and improvements in safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Lead or participate in interdepartmental teams to improve safe working practices; optimize operating conditions and resolve routine task issues.
  • Deliver training and mentor interns; demonstrate and reinforce standard operating procedures.
  • Performs other special projects as assigned and follow good manufacturing practices to ensure product safety.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems with ability to troubleshoot those systems.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to keep projects on track and on budget.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills capable of communicating across organizations effectively.
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, with a strong affinity for accuracy and problem solving.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of the PI manufacturing process and contribute to safety and quality initiatives.
