Summary :

Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, performs a wide variety of duties in the delivery of pharmaceutical care in the specialty pharmacies (i.e. the Pediatric Pharmacy, Critical Care Pharmacy, and Oncology Pharmacy) and inpatient pharmacy. Along with other staff, delivers medication related services to in-house patients, and the related take home medication services. Assists Pharmacists in performing quality control procedures for drug distribution technologies. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications :

Qualifications : Required : HS Diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam.18 years of age or older with no felony convictions, per Ohio Revised Code .Current / active Certified Pharmacy Technician from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or possess an Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) Certification from the National Healthcareer Association. Maintains certification throughout the course of employment.Registered as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy or obtains within 90 days of hire. Maintains registration throughout the course of employment.Access to reliable transportation to travel to various locations throughout The MetroHealth System based on operational needs.Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.Preferred : Experience preparing sterile intravenous (IV) products.6 months of experience in an inpatient pharmacy, with unit dose and IV admixture services.1 year of experience in a retail pharmacy setting.1 year of experience in a Home Care or Long Term Care Pharmacy setting.Physical Requirements : May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods.See in the normal visual range with or without correction.Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required. May need to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds on occasion.Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications.Ability to see computer monitor and departmental documents.Requires some exposure to biohazardous chemicals.
