Caregiver / DSP

The Direct Support Professional : As a Direct Support Professional, you will be responsible for assisting clients in daily activities in our Day Program, transporting participants to and from the program, and participating in community outings.

Core Responsibilities :

• DSP will provide direct care while supporting the social needs of the participants receiving services.
• Transport participants to and from the Day Program and act as an aide when required.
• Assists in developing appropriate activities for general and individual program plans and according to the room schedule.
• Driving an agency vehicle is required for this position.
• Must be able to secure participants who use wheelchairs.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds, bend, push wheelchairs, provide physical intervention as necessary, and be able to lift and / or transfer people.
• Establish a secure, positive relationship that nurtures the client to feel comfortable expressing needs.
• Monitor and maintain a clean, healthy, and safe environment.
• Provide individualized care for clients in accordance with their tasks.
• Encourage the client's independent decision-making, productivity, and participation in a range of activities.
• Maintain knowledge of each resident's limitations and requirements.
• Communicate resident's progress with service providers as outlined.
• Complete and maintain documentation in compliance with company procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned
