Your Role :

The Senior Engineering Specialist will lead efforts in developing and managing the planning and design of Exelon's electric transmission and distribution facilities. You will analyze and translate input from customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders into effective HV substation designs, ensuring clear communication throughout dynamic environments. Your expertise will guide consultations and recommendations that impact strategic legislative and operational decisions.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead technical aspects of HV substation design projects, requiring extensive engineering expertise to oversee team performance.
  • Evaluate complex technical issues, propose resolutions, and review engineering design documents relevant to electrical engineering, civil engineering, protection control, and communications.
  • Shape project teams and manage the implementation of specialized HV substation projects, including study, proposal, construction, and commissioning plans.
  • Engage actively with technical and industry committees to stay ahead in technological advancements.
  • Monitor departmental performance to ensure commitments are met effectively.
  • Act as an expert witness, providing insights for committees and regulatory bodies.
  • Work from the office or site three days a week, with a maximum of two days working remotely; one day presence required at the Atlantic Regional Office, preferably in the Atlantic Regional Office or New Castle Regional Office.

Job Scope :

  • Influence strategic substation investment decisions with widespread company impact.
  • Support and lead the planning and design of utility or customer systems.
  • Guide technical directions to ensure reliability and safety in solutions, promoting customer satisfaction.
  • Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong capabilities in analyzing complex electrical and mechanical systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering designs and principles.
  • Proficient with regulations, standards, codes, and advanced engineering principles.
  • Advanced technologies knowledge relevant to specialized assignments.
  • Master's degree or PE license can reduce experience requirements.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • At least 5 years of HV substation experience, with a focus on planning, design, construction, commissioning, or maintenance.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in engineering projects.
  • Familiarity with analysis and design software such as CYMDIST, PSS / E, Python, and MATLAB.
  • Published works or active participation in engineering committees are highly regarded.
