Position Summary
Under general supervision, provides basic to intermediate-level emergency rescue and care to the ill and injured, to include assessment of illness and / or injury, management of illness / injury, preparation for transport, transfer of information, and patient care. Guides and supports lower level EMT's and / or students in the performance of related duties, as required.
Typically works on an on-call basis as per schedule or as otherwise required.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience in the field of pre-hospital EMS. Certification / Licensure : NM Licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT / Intermediate.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of AFD / BCFD / AAS protocols
EVOC or National Safety Council Defensive Driving Course
Completed FEMA ICS 100 or 200 on-line training
Experience as an EMT-Intermediate in an emergency medical system with greater than 2,500 calls yearly
Experience supervising lower level EMT's
