5A EAST Integrated Med and Psych Care

The IMAP unit at Denver Health is a specialized 12-bed medical / surgical and psychiatric unit that provides high-quality, integrated care to adult patients with complex medical conditions and co-occurring mental health needs. This unit is uniquely designed for individuals whose behavioral health challenges, combined with acute or chronic medical diagnoses, make them difficult to place in traditional psychiatric or medical settings.

Patients on the IMAP unit may present with a wide range of medical concerns, including post-surgical recovery, cardiac abnormalities, sepsis, wound care, or other acute conditions-while also experiencing psychiatric diagnoses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or severe depression. The unit's structure allows for close medical monitoring while simultaneously addressing behavioral health needs through a multidisciplinary team approach.

With a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 4 / 1 : 5 and a CNA ratio of 1 : 6, the unit is staffed to support safe, effective, and compassionate care. The team on 5A delivers respectful, patient-centered care to individuals with complex access and care needs, and works collaboratively with internal medicine, psychiatry, and social work to ensure holistic treatment.

IMAP offers exceptional learning opportunities for nurses and certified nursing assistants seeking to grow their skills in both medical and psychiatric care. Staff gain experience in managing medically complex patients with behavioral needs, utilizing therapeutic communication, de-escalation strategies, and trauma-informed care.

Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, provides clerical and administrative support for the department. Provides excellent customer service, answers telephones, and is a clerical support to staff. Performs clerical duties such as word processing, entering data for reports, preparing PowerPoint presentations, maintaining departmental files, and other similar duties. Attends departmental meetings, takes minutes and produces minutes in draft and final form. Assists in record keeping and general operations of the office. Assists in research through data collection as assigned.

Essential Functions :

Acts as the point of contact for receiving information / calls from internal and external

customers / service providers to maintain office equipment / supplies, maintenance, environmental services, etc. and notifies the appropriate personnel.

  • Promptly responds to e-mail and voicemail no later than the end of the business day (15%)
  • Works as a liaison with IT team to troubleshoot issues, manage phone tree. (15%)
  • Compiles, transcribes and distributes minutes of meetings. (15%)
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of department website. (15%)
  • Arranges for the repair and maintenance of office equipment. (15%)
  • Cllects and enters data in spreadsheets and databases for monthly reports. (10%)

Education :

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Work Experience :

  • 1-3 years One year of healthcare or professional clerical experience required Required
  • Licenses :
