Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neonatal ICU position requiring trach and ventilator management and pediatric experience.
Responsibilities
Work in a mixed NICU / PICU / re rehab unit within a pediatric hospital settingPatient population includes peds and adolescents with TBI, spinal cord injury, GSW, MVA, burns, feeding disorders, failure to thrive, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, and post-ortho surgical patientsTypical nurse to patient ratio is 1 : 4Shifts are 3x12 hours rotating, with day (9 : 00-19 : 30) and night (19 : 00-7 : 30) optionsEvery other weekend and holidays as scheduled are requiredFloating within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed, with travelers first to floatNo on-call requirementsAny color or pattern scrubs permittedProvide care for complex pediatric and neonatal cases including respiratory and cardiac conditionsTeam structure involves working closely with PT, OT, and ST for rehab patientsRTO requests must be included at submission and cannot be modified after offer; time off should not exceed 7 days, and more than 4 consecutive days off will extend contract lengthMost units allow one major holiday off in winter seasonBlock scheduling or specific scheduling restrictions cannot be requested or guaranteedReturn travelers must be away from the system for at least 6 months, and former staff must be separated for 12 monthsOne extension is typically allowed before a 6-month break is requiredModules must be completed prior to startRequirements
Active MD or Compact RN license required at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of recent NICU or relevant pediatric experience requiredTrach and ventilator management experience requiredBLS certification required (AHA only)CPI certification required (Calm Every Storm online version accepted)Two satisfactory professional references from recent employers, including at least one supervisor / managerPermanent residence must be 50 miles or more from the hospital locationFirst-time travelers acceptedBenefits
