Overview
As a Test Engineer, you'll perform hands-on testing of firearms systems and components, develop and execute test plans, and analyze test data to ensure performance and reliability. You'll work closely with product development and engineering teams to validate designs, document results, and support continuous improvement in product quality.
About The Role
Develop test plans from the test request for developmental and production products.
Conduct tests per the test plan on developmental and production products. Evaluate performance against design specifications.Troubleshoot and resolve testing issues, including product malfunctions or incomplete data, in collaboration with engineering and / or product development staff.Perform live fire testing or simulations as required to validate results.Coordinate internal or external resources to complete test plans or execute testing independently where appropriate.Set up and operate test equipment, including installation and collaboration of instruments, control devices and fixtures. (Examples of test equipment in house : Phantom High Speed Video Camera, Mark 10 Test Stand for spring testing, Db reader for sound testing, Oehler electronic targeting and barrel pressure testing system.)ReportingUtilize computer software (inclusive of CAD and Microsoft Office Suite) for test documentation, data, analysis and reporting.
Prepare clear technical reports for use by engineering, product development and management personnel.Collaborate with Engineering and Product Development teams to establish performance criteria and production performance targets.Analyse test data to determine compliance with functional and performance requirements.DesignCollaborate with engineering and product development teams to design and fabricate test apparatus and equipment.
Create models, assemblies and technical drawings in CAD for product components and fixture components.Other Duties / ResponsibilitiesWork within aggressive timelines to achieve project goals.

With strong analytical and technical skills, you enjoy hands-on problem solving and take a methodical approach to testing. You thrive in a collaborative environment, have a keen eye for detail, and are passionate about ensuring product performance and reliability.
Bachelor\'s degree in engineering (Mechanical or related discipline) or equivalent preferred.Minimum of 3-5 years\' experience in a test environment (weapons or precision mechanical systems strongly preferred).CAD (SolidWorks) experience preferred (1-5 years).FEA experience (1-5 years) but not required.Hands-on metalworking experience desirable but not required.Experienced shooter, able to produce consistent results from 100\' to 1500 yards (or further) using shoulder fire or test fixtures.Familiarity with hand loading for accuracy testing preferred.Demonstrated knowledge of military, NATO, and ANSI standard requirements and test protocols (preferred).Ability to calculate and interpret MOA, standard deviation, and mean radius.What makes Barrett an exceptional workplace?
