Job description

Overview

Lifeway is searching for a B&H Editorial Summer Intern. This individual will participate in all stages of the evaluation and production of Trade and Academic books.

Interning at Lifeway

The Lifeway Internship Program is designed to provide college students and recent college graduates a valuable learning experience where they can grow professionally, personally, and spiritually. Our internships offer significantly more than “busy work.” As an intern, you’ll receive professional development and leadership training, exposure to senior leaders, and mentoring relationships with professionals in your field.

Internship Program Details / Requirements

  • Lifeway’s summer internship program offers a competitive hourly pay rate, all necessary equipment will be provided
  • Interns work 32 hours per week on average with Tuesday - Thursday as required core workdays
  • Interns must commit to participate in the entirety of the program : June 3 - August 9, 2024 (10 weeks)
  • Candidates must be currently enrolled at a college or university in an undergraduate or graduate program, and have fully completed at least two years of study. Recent graduates are eligible if they graduated the semester immediately prior (December 2023 or May 2024 graduates only)

Interns will receive development each week

Interns will work remotely throughout the program with the exception of orientation and end-of-summer presentations. Lifeway will cover the cost of travel to Nashville

Internship applications are due by January 15, we will begin interviews once the applications are closed. Selections are finalized by April 1

This is a remote position in the U.S. with travel to Nashville at the beginning and end of the summer, cost for travel is covered by Lifeway.

Responsibilities

  • Assessing book proposals
  • First-pass substantive editing and copyediting of manuscripts
  • Reviewing outside editors' feedback to authors
  • Participating in proposal and pub board meetings
  • Contributing to title and cover design discussions
  • Proofreading back cover copy
  • Qualifications

  • Live out , showing deep commitment to Kingdom work
  • Major in English, Journalism, Biblical Studies, or Theology
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word

    Ability to edit documents in Word or PDF formats

    Knowledge of copyediting terms / marks preferred

    Familiarity with the editing process preferred

    Exposure to biblical languages (Greek, Hebrew) preferred
