Job description

Perform nursing assessment of patients including obtaining and documenting weight, temperature, pulse, and other vital signs

Obtain and document patient history, nature of complaint and symptoms

Administer injections and medications as ordered and supervised by the physician

Assist the physician with minor surgical procedures and specific examinations as needed

Perform venipuncture for laboratory procedures as ordered by the physician

Conduct telephone follow-up with home health services, hospitals, pharmacies, and other physicians in regard to clinic patients for collection and transfer or information

Assist Office Coordinator in other related duties as necessary to ensure a smooth patient / work flow

Assist in maintaining an adequate inventory by checking supplies and drug levels periodically and prepares inventory orders as requested by Office Coordinator or Physician

Perform other tests such as EKG, Holter Monitor, Treadmill and pulmonary function studies as directed by physician

Perform patient education and instructions as directed by the physician. Obtains consent from patients for medical procedures as appropriate

Maintain current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Louisiana
