Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU (PICU) position involving care for neonates through adolescent patients and requiring CA RN license and pediatric certifications.
Responsibilities
Work in the Pediatric ICU of a hospital setting with 8 bedsPatient population includes neonates through adolescentsAverage daily census is 2–4 patientsDay shifts : 3x12 hours from 6 : 45 to 19 : 15Floating required to NICU and Pediatric unitsOn-call may be required; may float as extra hands or care for similar patients on scheduled daysUnit utilizes Pyxis and Cerner systemsNo specific scrub color requirementMust be able to provide expert care for critically ill pediatric patients across a broad age rangePosition accepts first-time travelers as well as local candidatesAll requested time off must be submitted prior to assignment; additional RTO will not be approved during contractCompletion of pre-start or orientation modules and a 1-hour CA Harassment course is requiredOne supervisory reference from within the last two years is necessary for considerationRequirements
Active CA RN license requiredCurrent BCLS, PALS, and PCAR certifications requiredMinimum 1 year PICU experience required; 2 years preferredExperience with cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia interpretation requiredProficiency in IV insulin protocols, GI surgery, EVD, ICP monitoring, spinal cord injury, and TBI managementExperience with arterial line management, blood product administration, central and PICC line care, and starting IVsAbility to administer continuous and procedural IV sedation, titrate cardiac and vasoactive dripsCompetence in respiratory management including ventilator care, BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, suctioning, and assisting with chest tubesSuccessful completion of Advanced EKG exam with measurements (pass at ≥80%, two attempts maximum) prior to startCOVID-19 vaccination required prior to employmentBenefits
