American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU Float RN with at least two years of ICU experience and an active CO or compact RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in an acute care ICU Float Pool covering multiple intensive care units including MICU, SICU, TICU, and CVICU
  • Assignment is within a 60-mile radius of Colorado Springs, requiring floating to various hospitals within Zone 1
  • Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1 : 1-2 depending on acuity, with potential to flex up to 1 : 3 for lower acuity
  • Utilizes Epic EMR system
  • Night shifts with a schedule including 6-9 weekend shifts per 6-week period
  • Expected to float to other acuity levels such as PCU, Stepdown, and MS-Tele units as needed
  • No home base facility; assignment and location may change with each schedule
  • Highly flexible schedule with assignments communicated prior to each schedule
  • 12-hour shifts with a week of in-state orientation required before starting regular shifts
  • Provide specialized nursing care for a range of critical patients including use of vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
  • Assist with troubleshooting and managing respiratory needs in the absence of a dedicated RT on the unit
  • No monitor techs or nurse aids; only sitters provided as needed
  • Preceptor-led orientation for 1-2 days at start of assignment
  • Schedule is set by leadership and all time-off requests must be submitted prior to assignment
  • Candidates must be able to commit to floating within the full 60-mile zone throughout the assignment
  • Dress code is any color scrubs
  • May be required to work holidays as part of rotation
  • Returning employees must not have worked at affiliated facilities in the past year
  • Rare call or standby requirements for low census

  • Active CO or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum of 2 years recent ICU experience required
  • First time travelers must have at least 3 years of ICU experience and prior Epic experience
  • Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Must be comfortable titrating all critical drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, and insulin
  • Must be able to read and interpret own EKG / telemetry strips
  • Driver's license must be submitted for proof of residency within the required radius
  • Two references required : one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
