American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU Float RN with at least two years of ICU experience and an active CO or compact RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care ICU Float Pool covering multiple intensive care units including MICU, SICU, TICU, and CVICUAssignment is within a 60-mile radius of Colorado Springs, requiring floating to various hospitals within Zone 1Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1 : 1-2 depending on acuity, with potential to flex up to 1 : 3 for lower acuityUtilizes Epic EMR systemNight shifts with a schedule including 6-9 weekend shifts per 6-week periodExpected to float to other acuity levels such as PCU, Stepdown, and MS-Tele units as neededNo home base facility; assignment and location may change with each scheduleHighly flexible schedule with assignments communicated prior to each schedule12-hour shifts with a week of in-state orientation required before starting regular shiftsProvide specialized nursing care for a range of critical patients including use of vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygenAssist with troubleshooting and managing respiratory needs in the absence of a dedicated RT on the unitNo monitor techs or nurse aids; only sitters provided as neededPreceptor-led orientation for 1-2 days at start of assignmentSchedule is set by leadership and all time-off requests must be submitted prior to assignmentCandidates must be able to commit to floating within the full 60-mile zone throughout the assignmentDress code is any color scrubsMay be required to work holidays as part of rotationReturning employees must not have worked at affiliated facilities in the past yearRare call or standby requirements for low census\n \n Requirements\n
Active CO or compact RN license required at time of considerationMinimum of 2 years recent ICU experience requiredFirst time travelers must have at least 3 years of ICU experience and prior Epic experienceCurrent AHA BLS and ACLS certifications requiredMust be comfortable titrating all critical drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, and insulinMust be able to read and interpret own EKG / telemetry stripsDriver's license must be submitted for proof of residency within the required radiusTwo references required : one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years\n Benefits\n
