Job description

Job Summary : The Drafter-Designer is responsible for preparing structural and architectural drawings, as well as assisting with light MEP layouts, in support of residential and commercial projects. This role works closely with engineers, project leads, and other team members to produce high-quality, code-compliant plans that meet company and client standards. The Drafter-Designer manages daily tasks through Pipedrive to maintain visibility on project progress and ensure deadlines are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Prepare accurate, code-compliant structural and architectural drawings using CAD software.
  • Develop and update light mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) layouts as required for project coordination.
  • Draft in various materials including wood and concrete; maintain openness to learning steel design.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project leads, and other drafters / designers to complete design packages according to project scope and schedule.
  • Revise and update plans based on engineer redlines and project changes.
  • Utilize Pipedrive to manage assigned tasks, track progress, and meet project deadlines.
  • Communicate project updates, needs, or obstacles to management and other relevant team members in a timely manner.
  • Apply relevant codes and standards, including the Florida Building Code (FBC), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, and fire / life safety codes (NFPA or local jurisdiction standards).
  • Maintain drawing standards in accordance with company and code requirements.
  • Assist with organizing server folders and ensuring documentation is consistently saved and labeled.

Requirements :

  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent).
  • Experience with structural, architectural, and light MEP drafting.
  • Strong attention to detail and technical drafting accuracy.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in new structural materials and methods.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with code requirements such as FBC, ADA, and NFPA.
