Reports To : Director of Operations

Work Environment : Fully air-conditioned, climate-controlled production facility

Brooks Utility Products is seeking a highly motivated self-sufficient Manufacturing Engineer to join our Operations team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and / or project.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, equipment layout, and facility layout.
  • Supports the purchase and installation of new equipment.
  • Directs the development and / or improvements of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Work with production operators, maintenance and floor personnel implementing improvement ideas.
  • Directly supervise maintenance and tool room team.
  • Teach Lean and other manufacturing tools to the operations team.
  • Provides technical support for specific plant operations.
  • Write and publish Operator Standardized Work and Quality Procedures.
  • Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
  • Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Support Capital Projects with requests, research, data etc.

Qualifications and Competencies :

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment. Metal stamping, assembly and fabrication environments preferred.
  • 3 years’ experience with a 3D or 2D CAD package.
  • Experience with job routings and processing documents, including time studies.
  • Lean implementation and plant re-arrange hands on experience.
  • The ability to prioritize various tasks, communicate technical information through written and verbal means, and solve complex engineering problems through a variety of resources.
