BASIC FUNCTION : The Recreation Coach will work together with the Site Supervisor in organizing activities for special needs youth in the after-school Skills Builder’s program. This integrated program is designed to serve participants from ages as young as 7 to 22 in an after-school setting. Offering activities involving community integration, technology, independent skills attainment, music & art, social & communication skills, self-help, safety, fitness, and health & nutrition. The Recreation Coach will work in a 3 : 1 staffing ratio with participant youth. The Recreation Coach is responsible for the safety of all children.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a community-based environment, such as children’s recreation centers, parks, and other children’s recreational places of interest.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing for an entire work shift (3- 8 hours). The employee must frequently lift and / or move items over 50 pounds. Specific abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
TRAVEL
This job requires daily travel to and from community centers, schools, movies, and parks using the employee's own vehicle. Note : travel will not exceed 60 miles.
