RN Diabetic Foot Care Educator job duties :

Educate patients on daily foot care, hygiene, and proper footwear

The Diabetes Foot Care Specialist RN delivers comprehensive foot care services that emphasize prevention, early detection, and patient education. Responsibilities include conducting foot assessments, providing routine treatments, evaluating footwear, and coordinating care when further medical attention is needed.\n\nKey Responsibilities : \n\nConduct initial and annual foot assessments, including diabetes history and medication review\nExamine foot structure, circulation, skin, and nails; document findings\nProvide routine foot care : nail trimming and filing, reduction of thick nails, calluses, corns, and ingrown nail portions\nInspect footwear for safety and fit\nRefer patients to medical providers as needed\nEducate patients on foot care, prevention, and available resources\nMaintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record\nQualifications : \n\nCurrent unencumbered Oregon RN license (required upon submission)\nHealthcare Provider BLS certification (required)\nCertification as a Diabetes Educator (CDE / CDCES) preferred\nBachelor ’s degree in nursing preferred\nPrior teaching experience preferred\nMinimum of three (3) years clinical experience as an RN or RD, with emphasis on diabetes care and / or chronic disease management preferred\n
