The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in patient care, with experience in various medical settings. This role requires a compassionate approach to nursing, ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care during their hospital stay. The Medsurg RN will work collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care to patients with diverse medical needs. Duties Provide direct patient care in a medical-surgical unit, ensuring adherence to established protocols and standards. Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and physical examinations. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including IV infusion and medication administration. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans. Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond promptly to emergencies. Document patient care activities accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Educate patients and families on health management, discharge planning, and post-operative care. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control practices. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to NCQA standards. Experience Candidates should possess the following skills and experiences : Hospital experience in a Medsurg or acute care setting is essential. Familiarity with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner) for efficient documentation of patient care. Experience in critical care or emergency medicine is highly desirable. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and relevant nursing practices. Proficiency in IV insertion, phlebotomy, catheterization, and basic life support techniques. Background in geriatrics, pediatrics, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus. Understanding of case management principles and discharge planning processes.
