Internal Medicine Physician at Veterans Health Administration summary :

The Greater Los Angeles VA is seeking a Primary Care Physician to provide comprehensive care for Veterans, addressing both physical and mental health needs. The role involves diagnosing and managing various conditions, coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team, and engaging in education for medical trainees. Candidates should possess strong communication skills and leadership abilities, committed to enhancing Veteran health and well-being.

The Greater Los Angeles VA is seeking Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to Veterans at our Lancaster CA Community Based Clinic. Duties include screening for mental health concerns such as PTSD, depression, and substance use disorders; diagnosing and managing acute and chronic illnesses; and addressing gender-specific health needs. PCPs will evaluate and treat uncomplicated mental health and substance use disorders, coordinate specialty care as needed, and provide preventive care, including cancer screenings, immunizations, and weight management counseling. Successful candidates will be part of a multidisciplinary team involving nurses, social workers, integrated mental health providers, and pharmacists, ensuring holistic care tailored to each Veteran s needs. Prior teaching experience is preferred as PCPs will engage in education and mentorship for trainees in both outpatient clinics and inpatient settings.

The GLA VA is affiliated with the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, offering opportunities for academic appointments as clinician-educators. These roles involve teaching medical students, internal medicine residents, and other trainees while fostering a collaborative, mission-driven environment dedicated to serving those who have served in the military. Candidates should exhibit excellent communication skills, leadership in team-based care, clinical expertise, and a passion for advancing Veteran health and well-being.

Work Schedule : Monday Friday, 8 : 00 am-4 : 30pm 12-15 Patients per clinical day

Qualifications :

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine
  • Must possess a current, full, and unrestricted license from any state or US territory.
  • Must have completed residency in an accredited core specialty
  • Preferred minimum of 5 years of practice, but not required.
  • Must be Board Certified
