American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Stepdown and EMU position requiring strong neuro skills and night shift flexibility.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is based in a hospital Neuro Stepdown and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) with 31 total bedsCares for higher acuity neuroscience patients, including strokes, seizures, craniotomies, and post-TPA patientsStepdown nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 3 and EMU ratio is 1 : 5-6Night shifts consist of three 12-hour shifts from 7 : 00 pm to 7 : 30 am, including weekends and holidays as part of a rotationEpic EMR system is used; prior Epic experience is requiredMay float to units including 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10W as neededRoyal blue scrubs are requiredTwo shifts of unit-based orientation are providedPrimary responsibilities include caring for patients with neurological diagnoses and monitoring in the EMUCharge nurse and respiratory therapy are available 24 / 7 on the unitTravelers may not have vent management responsibilities; floor vents are managed by RT and physiciansTravelers may be expected to participate in a holiday rotation scheduleFormer perm staff or travelers at any WVU facility must have a two-year gap before returningAfter one year of cumulative work within WVU, a two-year break is required before returnPass / fail EKG testing may be required for stepdown unit assignmentsFirst-time travelers are accepted for this role\n \n Requirements\n
Active WV or compact RN licenseMinimum of 2 years of neuro stepdown experience requiredCertifications required : BLS and NIHSS; ACLS is preferredExperience with titratable drips such as amiodarone, cardizem, nitro, dopamine, nipride, ketamine, lasix, bumex, and insulin preferredEpic charting experience requiredMust live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligibleCOVID-19 vaccination is required, with medical or religious exemptions considered\n Benefits\n
