American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with stepdown experience and strong critical care skills for a 13-week day shift assignment.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 12-bed ICU of a hospital setting caring for complex critical care patientsPrimary cases include cardiac arrest, COVID-positive and PUI patients, post-tPA CVAs, nonthreatening bleeds, sepsis, intubated patients, EKOS, DKA, and continuous BiPAP / CPAP / High FlowNurse to patient ratios of 1 : 1 or 1 : 2Must manage and titrate critical care drips and be proficient with vents, BiPAP, CPAP, and High FlowRNs are responsible for reading and interpreting EKG telemetry strips as there are no monitor techs for CCUClinical technicians (1 : 6 ratio) provide AM / PM care, vital signs, EKGs, IV starts, Foley insertion, and glucose checksDay shifts are 7 : 00 AM to 7 : 30 PM, 12 hours, with self-scheduling and block scheduling availableEvery other weekend and one major plus one minor holiday coverage requiredNo on-call or standby coverage requiredFloating may be required to PCU, 6B, and medical boarder unitsNavy blue scrubs requiredUnit-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts with a preceptorUnit has a charge nurse or supervisor each shift; charge nurse does not take a patient assignment unless necessaryRespiratory therapy available 24 / 7 for supportSelf-scheduling and block scheduling available in 6-week increments\n \n Requirements\n
Active VA or compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years ICU experience with recent stepdown experienceCurrent BLS and ACLS requiredNIHSS, CRRT, and CCRN preferred but not requiredAbility to titrate drips, read and interpret EKG strips, and proficiently operate ventilators and respiratory equipment\n Benefits\n
