SSHO Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to oversee safety compliance on our construction projects. The SSHO will be responsible for ensuring that safety standards are met and maintained in accordance with federal regulations and guidelines, including EM-385. This position plays a critical role in promoting a culture of safety and health among all team members and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement site-specific safety plans in compliance with EM-385 and other applicable regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide safety training and orientation for all employees and subcontractors on site.
  • Ensure compliance with USACE, NAVFAC, and other federal safety standards.
  • Collaborate with project management and site superintendent to address safety concerns promptly.
  • Prepare and maintain safety documentation, including incident reports and safety meeting minutes.
  • Act as the main point of contact for safety-related issues and liaise with federal safety inspectors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
  • Current certification as a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO).
  • Experience with federal projects, particularly with USACE and NAVFAC standards.
  • Knowledge of EM-385 regulations and safety protocols.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory safety role on construction sites.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead safety initiatives.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
