Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift role that requires Trauma Level I experience and flexibility with weekend scheduling.
Responsibilities
Work in a hospital-based Progressive Care Unit focused on cardiovascular patient populations with a primary PCU / step-down settingCare for patients with congestive heart failure, MI, pulmonary hypertension, arrhythmias, COPD, congenital heart defects, infective endocarditis, and complex comorbiditiesPatient ratios are typically 1 : 4Handles post-cath lab procedures and pre / post advanced cardiac interventionsNight shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19 : 00–07 : 30)Floating required within PCU and to Med-Surg, ICU, and between affiliate hospitals as neededUses Cerner EMR, Cerner experience required or preferredMay be assigned charge nurse responsibilities based on operational needsPrecepting and student shadowing may be required as part of a teaching hospital environmentProvide advanced nursing care for a wide range of complex cardiovascular patientsCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams and may orient or precept students as part of dutiesCharge shift responsibilities may be required as determined by the unitFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyAll travelers must be flexible with weekend requirements, with a minimum expectation of working 50% of weekends in the contractMust be willing to float as assigned within the hospital and between affiliate sitesMust work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contractUp to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) will be auto-approvedCall-ins may require making up missed shifts, per facility attendance policyRequirements
Active IN or compact RN license in handMinimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience in Trauma Level I hospital settingsBCLS certification required; ACLS preferredExperience with cardiac drips, post-cath lab, IV starts, and sheath pulls requiredConscious sedation and telemetry monitoring experience preferredMust be a graduate of an ACEN or CCNE-accredited nursing programCerner charting experience required or highly preferredNot accepting local candidates for this positionReturn applicants must not have worked as permanent or PRN staff at this hospital system within the past 12 monthsBenefits
