About the Role
A global asset management firm is seeking an Associate Lending Counsel to join its high-performing legal team. This role is ideal for a legal professional with deep experience in leveraged finance who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and external counsel to structure and negotiate complex financing transactions, support investment committee processes, and contribute to legal strategy and documentation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and negotiate commitment letters, term sheets, and credit agreements for middle market and broadly syndicated transactions.
- Collaborate with underwriting, capital markets, and sponsor coverage teams to deliver tailored financing solutions.
- Review legal documentation for syndicated and club deals.
- Support investment committee reviews and internal legal strategy initiatives.
- Manage external counsel relationships and ensure alignment with internal standards.
- Lead training sessions and maintain legal documentation databases and templates.
Qualifications
JD from a top-tier institution; admitted to practice law in relevant U.S. jurisdictions.5–7 years of experience in leveraged finance, preferably at a law firm or in-house at a financial institution.Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive matters in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Preferred Attributes Self-starter with a collaborative mindset and attention to detail.Comfortable working under tight deadlines and advising senior stakeholders.Experience leading legal projects and mentoring junior professionals.Enthusiastic about contributing to a high-performance hybrid work culture.
