Healthcare Setting : Heart and Vascular Stepdown Unit (36 beds)
Assignment Length : 13 weeks
Start Date : November 24, 2025
End Date : February 23, 2026
Shift : 4x12-hour day shifts (07 : 00 - 19 : 30)
Hours per Week : 36
Patient Ratios : 1 : 4-6
Employment Type : Travel RN, W2
Scrub Color : Navy Blue
Estimated Weekly Salary : $1910 - $1960 per week
Registered Nurse Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (any state; compact nursing licenses accepted)
Minimum 1.5 years of recent Stepdown or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience (ICU experience does not substitute)
Experience caring for CABG and valve replacement cardiac patients required
Documented experience with 1 : 5 patient ratios in Stepdown / PCU
EPIC charting experience required
Must pass an online EKG / telemetry competency assessment prior to start
BLS and ACLS certifications required
NIHSS certification required
IV start skills and cardiac drip titration experience required
Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips
Travel nursing experience preferred
Available to work every other weekend and holiday as needed
Flu vaccine required (medical / religious exemptions accepted)
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiac and vascular stepdown patients, including pre- and post-op open heart management (CABG, valve, mitral clip, TAVR, thoracotomy, etc.)
Manage advanced cardiac patients with continuous telemetry monitoring
Administer and titrate cardiac drips, manage chest tubes, and provide care for lung cases (pneumothorax, hemothorax, etc.)
Perform IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care
Interpret dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases (ABGs)
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory, physical therapy, and more
Float to other units as needed, including high-risk respiratory / COVID units and other campuses within 15 miles
Support the nursing care team and adapt to changing patient needs
Complete orientation modules and required assessments within specified timeframes
