American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring an active ME or compact RN license and comprehensive LDRP care skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the OB unit of a hospital with a Level III Nursery and LDRP model of carePatient population includes low-risk laboring patients, postpartum mothers, and newborns, with high-risk cases transferred outCare includes laboring patients, postpartum mothers, well babies, post-partum hemorrhage, preeclampsia, HELLP, bilirubin babies, NAS babies, and occasional Med / Surg overflowTypical ratios are 1 : 2 for laboring, 1 : 1 for active labor, 1 : 3-4 for couplets, and 1 : 2-3 for Med / Surg patients based on AWHONN guidelinesNight shift from 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 00 AM, 36 hours per week, with every other weekend and holiday requiredUses Cerner charting systemFloating may be required to Med / Surg or ED for tasks onlyResponsible for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and couplet care in an LDRP settingNo dedicated nursery; nurses are responsible for care of well babies on the unitProcedural scrubs provided for OR; professional scrubs of any color allowed otherwiseUnit support includes at least two nurses per night, midwife, OB on call, charge nurse, HUC (part time), RT and hospitalist available 24 / 7, no CNAsGeneral hospital and one shift unit orientation providedMust have flu vaccination for clearance; only medical exemptions allowed with pre-approvalFree parking is available on siteTravel pairs are not accepted for this position\n \n Requirements\n
Active ME or compact RN license requiredMinimum of 2 years recent L&D experience; first-time travelers must have 3+ years recent L&D experienceCurrent BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certifications requiredSTABLE certification required within 30 days of startProficient in all phases of Labor and Postpartum care including care of newborns and LDRP modelExperience with shoulder dystocia, epidural management, nitrous, intrathecal spinal analgesia, and basic neonatal careNot eligible if previously employed in a permanent capacity at any Northern Light Health HospitalMust reside at least 100 miles South / Southwest of Bangor, ME\n Benefits\n
