THE POSITION
This position will be responsible for providing innovative and strategic leadership for all development efforts. Under the direction of the Head of School, the Director of Development will implement a multi-level development plan that will include major donors, corporate and business, foundations, endowment, special events and all fundraising efforts. The Director of Development is expected to assist Hebron Christian Academy in achieving its mission. A commitment to excellence, and unparalleled customer service is needed and is the expectation of all Hebron employees. This is a full-time, twelve (12) month position.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Management :
- Build, manage, mentor, and motivate the development team (staff and volunteers).
Data Management :
Oversee the donor database (e.g., Raiser’s Edge) to ensure accurate gift recording, prospect research, and data integrity.Budgeting :
Manage the department’s operating budget and provide regular reports to the Head of School and Board on fundraising progress.Strategic Planning :
Serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the school’s overall strategic planning and decision-making.QUALIFICATIONS
Education :
Bachelor’s degree (required); advanced degree or CFRE certification (preferred).Experience :
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, ideally within an independent school or similar non-profit setting.SPIRITUAL / PERSONAL EXPECTATIONS

Strategy and Planning : Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive annual development plan and long-term fundraising strategies.Annual Fund : Oversee and grow the school’s Annual Fund to meet or exceed income goals.Major Gifts / Campaigns : Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors and prospects for leadership gifts, capital campaigns, and planned giving campaigns.Donor Relations : Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with individuals, alumni, foundations, and corporate funders. Ensure timely and accurate gift processing, acknowledgments, and donor recognition / stewardship programs.Grants : Oversee all aspects of the grant-writing program, identifying and pursuing opportunities for institutional funding.Special Events : Plan, organize, and execute fundraising and community-building events (e.g., galas, auctions, giving campaigns, building projects).Messaging : Serve as a key storyteller, effectively communicating the school’s mission, values, and impact to all stakeholders.Collateral : Oversee the creation of all fundraising materials, annual reports, newsletters, and promotional content.External Relations : Manage external communications, including press releases, social media campaigns, and website content related to development.Branding : Works with the communications team to enhance the school’s visibility and brand identity in the community.Board Partnership : Work closely with the Board of Trustees to set policies, establish fundraising strategies, and engage the Board in philanthropy.OTHER DUTIES

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times and set up events.Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed.
