    • Works with building-level and central office administrative staff to interpret the media program and to identify services and requirements.
    • Collaborates with campus administrators and school leadership in monitoring the quality and needs of school media programs and creatively solving related problems.
    • Collaborates with inter-departmental areas to ensure fidelity of integration with school library programs.
    • Identifies and combines new and innovative practices into media programs inclusive of all student populations.

    • Implement and comply with the policies established by local, state, and federal law, State Board of Education rules, and the local board policies in library media services.
    • Acts as an advocate promoting and interpreting the value of school library media programs to FWISD and the community.
    • Acts as a liaison to library programs in Tarrant County, the state, and local colleges and universities.
    • Identifies the need and facilitates the creation of librarian committees (selection, outreach, literacy, collection review, etc.) and new librarian mentoring programs.
    • Facilitates the creation of Lead Librarians by Networks.
    • Conducts frequent needs assessment efforts, analyzes results, and applies the data to improve the overall district library media services program.
    • Plans and organizes appropriate professional development sessions for librarians.
    • Coordinate the district’s library media services program with other district departments and initiatives.
    • Creates asynchronous opportunities for professional development and continual communication using learning management systems and telecommunication software.
    • Approves campus-created purchase orders for library purchases upon the approval of the campus administrator.
    • Monitors library collections to ensure alignment to district selection guidelines and HB 900.
    • Monitors and reviews formal reconsideration requests made at the campus-level.
    • Compiles cost estimates used in the budgeting process and administers the library media budget, ensuring that the program is cost-effective and funds are managed prudently.
    • Oversees program details such as automation system administration, cataloging, digital resource acquisition and management, and curriculum collaboration.
    • Assist in planning new library facilities and renovations, consult with architects and project managers, coordinate details with applicable departments as needed, supervise library collection moves, and select furnishings for new facilities and renovations.
    • Conduct and report on the analysis of collections, usage, services, and other assessment data that evaluate the impact and effectiveness of library media services
    • Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures equipment is in safe operating condition.
    • Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
    • Corrects unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor.
    • Selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff and makes recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.

    • Education :
    • Master’s degree from accredited college or university in librarianship from a program accredited by the American Library Association, or a master’s degree with a specialty in school librarianship from a program recognized by the American Association of School Librarians in an educational unit accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (ALA Policy 54.2.2).

      Position Purpose

      Oversees evaluation, coordination, initiation, and administration of a strategic library media services vision that ensures an integrated plan of action supporting the district’s core values and culture. Responsible for directing and administrating library programs and services across the district and modeling the campus librarians’ role in digital and media literacy, digital citizenship, and technology integration.

      ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

      Program Management
