Tax Fraud Detection Manager
The Virginia Department of Taxation's Office of Compliance is seeking a Tax Fraud Detection Manager. This position will work with senior auditors, auditors, and tax examiners in the design, development, implementation, and administration of existing and new compliance refund review programs and processes with a particular focus on tax fraud. To accomplish this task, the Tax Fraud Detection Manager will provide leadership, guidance, and technical assistance to assigned staff, ensuring staff has necessary training to perform assigned duties. Develop, test, and administer audit and refund review programs ensure compliance with established procedures and expectations; enhance current audit initiatives; identify audit selection criteria; and oversee automated and manual processes which would involve case selection as well as tracking and analyzing results. Assist management with administration of audit programs and other unit functions. Ensures that unit activities are aligned with agency strategic plan. This position is located in our Main Street Centre Office in Richmond, Virginia. This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. Minimum Qualifications
Working knowledge of state and or federal tax laws regarding individual income and business taxes. Experience with assessing fraud schemes, diagnosing root cause of issues and making recommendations for remediation. Experience in fraud prevention, fraud analytics, fraud risk management, and / or other complex data analysis and matching disciplines. Experience with preparing concise reports, dashboards, and delivering briefings to leadership. Management and / or supervisory experience.
Additional Considerations
Experience working in a tax related government environment. Advances knowledge and skill in areas such as accounting, finance, risk management, computer science, information security and / or other related fields. Certifications such as CFE (Certified Fraud Examiners), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CFCM (Certified Fraud Control Manager), CITP (Certified Information Technology Professional) or other relevant credentials.
