South Pointe's Medical Surgical 9 is a 16-bed unit that provides a wide range of surgical and post-surgical services for adult patients. Most of the patients are having elective surgeries. Our diverse patient population ensures nursing staff members gain a wide variety of surgical and post-surgical patient care experiences. Nurses who thrive in our unit demonstrate a strong work ethic and exhibit excellent critical thinking and assessment skills, which are needed to monitor patients during their admission.

A caregiver in this position works days, 7 : 00am – 7 : 30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will :

Provide direct nursing care.

Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.

Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.

Administer prescribed medications and treatments.

Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.

Educate patients and their families.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include :

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

One-year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN experience.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include :

Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).
