Job description

Financial Counselor

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented financial counselor to join our team. The financial counselor plays a critical role in supporting patients by helping them navigate insurance coverage, payment options, and financial assistance programs. This position ensures patients understand their financial responsibilities and assists in securing access to affordable care through sliding fee scales, Medicaid enrollment, and other community resources.

Salary $16.00 - $22.00 / hour

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 - 3 years of medical front office experience
  • 1 - 2 years billing / coding experience preferred
  • Minimum of 12 months experience in a customer service
  • Excellent communication, organizational and customer service
  • Excellent phone
  • Self-motivated individual who can handle high patient volumes and fast
  • Responsibilities

  • Confirm patients' insurance coverage, explain benefits, and clarify out-of-pocket costs before or during treatment.
  • Provide detailed cost estimates for procedures and help patients set up payment arrangements or apply for financial assistance programs.
  • Assess patients' financial situations to determine eligibility for aid such as Medicaid, charity programs, or government subsidies.
  • Assist with completing financial forms, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with policies and legal regulations.
  • Act as the patient's advocate by answering billing questions, resolving concerns, and coordinating with social workers or case managers when needed.
  • Work closely with departments like enabling services, billing, and care coordination to ensure smooth financial processing and patient satisfaction.
  • Support co-workers and engage in positive interactions.
  • Provide helpful assistance in anticipating and responding to the needs of our customers.
  • Collaborate with customers in planning and decision making to result in optimal solutions.
