Overview
Supervisory Recreation Specialist Community Recreation at Navy Region Southeast Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR). This position is located in the Community Recreation Division, Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department, CNIC, on NAS Corpus Christi, TX. Incumbent manages and administers a comprehensive and diverse year-round recreation program in the Information, Tickets and Tours (ITT) Office and plans, promotes, and implements a variety of MWR Community Recreation programs and activities.
Responsibilities
- Supervision : assign work, set priorities, evaluate performance, approve leave, initiate corrective actions, and recommend formal disciplinary actions as warranted; authorize personnel action requests (SF-52) and ensure timekeeping compliance.
- Lead and instruct staff in administrating workshops, clinics, and events in outdoor skills (camping, cycling, sailing, backpacking, canoeing, snow skiing, hiking, water sports); manage day-to-day operation of multiple programs; assist with staffing, training, and scheduling.
- Plan, promote, and implement well-rounded Community Recreation programs utilizing CNIC-approved standards; coordinate leisure skills development activities and classes; provide support for unit allocation events (equipment, programming ideas, coordination).
- Develop and manage a diverse Community Recreation program including partnerships with on-base and off-base organizations; research and refer recreational opportunities for individuals / families on and off base.
- Publicize, market, plan, and execute programs and events; perform administrative duties including after-action reports, data collection, and database administration; track patron usage and metrics.
- Solicit input from activity managers on goals, business plan objectives, and program standards; monitor programs to ensure standards are met or exceeded; advise on program modifications to improve effectiveness.
- Provide onsite project oversight; ensure approved plans are implemented and communicate issues to leadership; use metrics and financial data to make program recommendations.
- Ensure facilities and activities meet fire, safety, security, and sanitation guidelines; correct deficiencies in coordination with appropriate entities.
- Manage equipment / inventory : check-in / check-out, assess damage, balance daily sales, and balance cash through POS; perform equipment and retail item inventories.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Specialized experience directly related to the duties described above, or equivalent to the next lower level, with knowledge / education / experience in recreation, marketing, or related fields. Your resume must clearly demonstrate experience in :
Education / education-related related to recreation, marketing, business, or closely related field; or equivalent recreation-related work experience.Customer service and activity-based functions; independent decision-making and effective communication (oral and written).Knowledge of recreational programs, event planning, leadership, and ability to plan and conduct activities for diverse demographics.Ability to create, negotiate, implement, and sustain partnerships via MWR agreements; maintain clear databases; represent department in small / large group settings; knowledge of events and program planning.Strong program planning and leadership skills to devise and sustain leisure and social recreation programs; ability to adapt programs to participant interests.Note : You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part-time experience. Education
A bachelor's degree in recreation, leisure studies, exercise science, or related field is preferred but may be substituted by an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. If claiming education, include transcripts.
