Sarasota County Government Capital Projects Position

Sarasota County Government is seeking a dedicated professional to join the Capital Projects team. This position offers a competitive salary range of $56,014.40 - $76,128.00 annually and is located in Sarasota, FL.

About the Role :

This position involves entry-level work supporting small Transportation / Stormwater Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) with potential assistance on larger projects. The role includes oversight of construction and design contracts, managing small projects, and supporting the Transportation / Stormwater Construction Manager and higher-level Project Managers. The work will primarily support Transportation / Stormwater Construction Manager and other higher-level Project Managers.

Responsibilities include managing small capital and operational construction projects, overseeing construction contracts, and ensuring fulfillment of contractual obligations. The role also involves working with internal and external stakeholders to resolve disputes, coordinate with contractors, engineers, architects, and inspectors to ensure adherence to County design / construction standards, and assist in providing on-site resolution of construction or design problems.

Minimum Qualifications :

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Project Management, or related field. Project experience can substitute for the required degree on a year-for-year basis depending on the type of experience.

Preferred Qualifications :

CTQP Qualifications in Concrete, Asphalt, Earthworks, Pile Driving, Drilled Shafts, or Final Estimates is preferred, as well as some Maintenance of Traffic (MOT). FDEP Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector certification is preferred. A minimum of two (2) years experience in project management or capital improvement project (CIP) management is preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is preferred.

Job Competencies :

Comprehensive experience in construction, contract administration, project management, and supervision of transportation projects. Sound judgment and decision making.
