About Medical Pathology Associates
Medical Pathology Associates is seeking a Molecular Laboratory Technologist to work in a clinical molecular laboratory in Houston, TX near the Texas Medical Center. The position is for the night shift. The Molecular technologist will perform testing on patient specimens and ensure adherence to all applicable compliance requirements. The work of each medical technologist, from specimen receipt to archive, is expected to be exemplary, with attention to detail and great care to protect and serve our clients and patients in the best manner possible. We prefer candidates with a history of performing complex molecular laboratory testing. Experience with molecular instrumentation, specifically the QuantStudio, is highly desirable.
This is an overnight shift, Monday through Friday.
Duties and responsibilities :
- Process patient specimens using a QuantStudio 5 and / or 12k Flex
- Data analysis and reporting of test results
- Perform equipment maintenance according to manufacturer specifications
- Prepare general laboratory reagents
- Monitor QA / QC records and ensure inspection readiness at all times
- Coordinate with Laboratory Director, Technical Supervisor and General Supervisor
- Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and other safety practices
- I dentify and report unsafe equipment, conditions and practices so that they may be corrected prior to an incident
- Read, understand, and adhere to all the SOPs, policies, and protocols and relevant government regulations
- Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specification.
- Ensure an efficient workflow operation and report any delays and / or problems.
- Maintain and track inventory for reagents, consumables, and ancillaries to support laboratory functions.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Familiarity with CLIA regulatory requirementsThorough understanding of the QuantStudio 384 well and OpenArray workflow and molecular diagnostics principlesOrganized and can work independentlyRobust computer skills, including Microsoft Office and lab information systemsStrong interpersonal and written and spoken communication skillsHigh attention to detailGood visual acuity including color perceptionUnderstand the use of a 'hard stop' - holding the progress of a case to facilitate resolution of an issue to facilitate optimal patient careAn Associates or Bachelor's Degree (Bachelor's preferred) in Medical Technology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, or Physics with :60 semester hours including 24 semester hours of medical lab technology; or60 semester hours including 24 hours of science that includes 6 hours chemistry, 6 hours biology, and 12 hours chemistry, biology or,medical lab tech in any combination and laboratory training that includes either :completion of a clinical lab training program or3 months training in each specialty in which high complexity testing is performed.PI2257b5afb6e5-30511-38657890
