The RN performs assessments and reassessments according to policy and procedure.

Sound independent decision-making is demonstrated in care delivery.

The RN initiates and prioritizes the plan of care, reviewing and revising as necessary.

Collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services is essential.

Resources are used appropriately to support the needs of patients and families.

Monitoring and documentation of responses to clinical interventions are required.

The RN facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient needs.

Delegation of tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel is part of the role.
