Job Description

Join a government-supporting legal organization as a Judgment Payoff Specialist, where you will play a vital role in the tax collections process. You'll be responsible for preparing judgment payoffs on delinquent tax accounts, issuing release of judgments on paid accounts, and managing certified tax statement requests. This position requires strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills, along with the ability to handle high-volume document processing.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, proofread, and forward various types of judgment payoffs, including standard, deficiency, strike-off, private resale, and bankruptcy
  • Prepare releases of judgment (standard, partial, resale, clouding title on homesteads)
  • Respond to phone calls and emails related to payoffs and releases; assist with the Post Judgment main line
  • Prepare certified tax statement requests from intervenors and send to the Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector
  • Research and prepare releases from JP lists (twice per year)
  • Process payments and related documentation; review check copies and prepare releases
  • Create payment plans for taxpayers as requested
  • Support file reviews for tax sales, when time allows
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bilingual REQUIRED (Spanish or other)
  • Customer service experience; knowledge of real estate or property tax foreclosure is a plus
  • Office or legal experience preferred
  • Must type 50 WPM
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Oracle systems is a plus
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to handle high-volume document processing
  • Strong communication and proofreading skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing deadlines
  • Demonstrated research skills, problem-solving, and working with numbers
  • Must have punctuality, professional demeanor, and reliable attendance
  • Familiarity with the Texas Property Tax Code and willingness to stay up-to-date on changes

    The base pay range for this position is $20.00 per hour, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final compensation will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future growth
