Lecturer A / 2 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range : $5,507 – $6,677 per month
Lecturer B / 3 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range : $6,221 – $13,224 per month
Lecturer C / 4 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range : $6,825 – $14,523 per month
Lecturer D / 5 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range : $8,593 – $15,211 per month
Anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. See the Faculty Salaries At-a-Glance guide for more information.

Position Summary :
The Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing in College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management is collecting application materials for a pool of lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2025-26 academic year. Successful candidates will be able to teach a range of courses in mechanical engineering, mechatronic engineering, or advanced manufacturing. The department's three programs share several courses and faculty members regularly teach across the disciplines. California State University, Chico is seeking faculty who are competent in their field, collaborative with colleagues and staff, and committed to student success. Appointments from the lecturer pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term.
Minimum Qualifications :
The minimum education requirement for a lecturer appointment is a bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field. Candidates must have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, proficiency in spoken and written English, and expertise in at least one of the three department disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications :
Preferred qualifications include prior teaching experience, advanced or terminal degrees in related disciplines, and industrial experience in mechanical or mechatronic engineering or advanced manufacturing. Consideration will be given for professional credentials such as a professional engineer's license and / or manufacturing specific certifications such as CMfgE or CMfgT. Bilingual candidates will be given preference.
Responsibilities :
The primary responsibility of part-time lecturers is teaching at the undergraduate level. Position duties may also include supervision of laboratories, student advising, capstone project advising, and program outreach. Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.

The Department :
The Department of MMEM offers two accredited engineering B.S. degrees : Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronic Engineering and a B.S. degree in Advanced Manufacturing and Applied Robotics. The Department also offers a minor in Advanced Manufacturing. MMEM is one of seven departments in the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management.
The department prides itself in maintaining rigorous curricula, delivering programs that are practice-oriented with a strong design focus, and having accessible faculty who provide a high degree of personal attention to all students. A major strength of the department is the Capstone Design Program sponsored by industry partners that provides hands-on design projects for cross-disciplinary teams of mechanical and mechatronic engineering and advanced manufacturing students to design, build, and test real-world solutions.
